8 Dangers of Usury in the World and the Hereafter

Everything that is forbidden by Allah Almighty certainly contains the intention of goodness in it. God forbids everything that usually contains benefits either in the world or in the hereafter. But unfortunately, the practice of usury has mushroomed in society and it is even impossible for us to complete the practice of usury completely.

Usury became a word that was so familiar to our everyday ears. Especially for muslims, of course, usury is a fairly familiar word and which definitely means bad. Until now there are many types of usury that exist in society ranging from in the form of capital loans, buying and selling goods, services and so on.

Understanding Usury

According to the language, the definition of usury has several meanings, namely:

Increase – This is because one of the acts of usury is to ask for additional for something owed previously
Flourish – This happens because one type of usury act is to silencing property in the form of money or maybe other things to then lend to others.
Excessive – Excessive or inflated is one of the definitions of usury due to additions and certain conditions.

Usury is a despicable act where the perpetrators will be rewarded with sin by Allah Almighty and we should have a way of avoiding usury. According to M Quraish Shihab, usury is the act of taking excess capital from the needy by exploiting its needs. Meanwhile, according to Mrs. Katsir, usury is helping or helping, but seeking the benefits behind the help even suffocates and sucks blood.

God will remove blessings for those usury practitioners

They are the perpetrators of usury, who are people, who are threatened with going to hell. Not only that, but Allah Almighty also threatened the perpetrators by not accepting blessings. This is explained in Sura Al- Baqarah verses 275, 276 and 278 with the sound " people who eat (take) usury cannot stand but like the establishment of shaitan entry due to (ekana) madness.

Their situation, which is so, is because they say (argue), indeed, buying and selling is the same as usury, even though God has justified buying and selling and forbids usury. The man who has come to him the prohibition from his Lord and then continues to stand (from taking usury), then to him what he has taken first (before the coming of the prohibition); and his business (up) to God. The one who cashs in on it (takes usury), then that person is the inhabitants of hell, they are eternal in it (275)

God destroys usury and nourishes almsgiving. And God does not like everyone who remains in paganism and always sins (276)

Ar-Rum verse 39 is "And something (additional) that you give so that he may increase in the possessions of men, then the usury does not add to the side of Allah. And what you give in the form of zakat which you intend to achieve the pleasure of Allah, then (those who do so) are the ones who multiply (the reward)."

Do not let your intention to do good, namely infaq, become unenforceable due to the results of the usury you do.

However, usury is still developing a lot considering the uneven economy of the population and the occurrence of social inequalities that are so between each other. If fellow human beings are willing to care about their neighbors, then the name of usury can be reduced or even disappeared altogether.
